Joel Myers, Jr. Victorious
for $4,000 on Opening Night at MCS!
(April
25, 2026) A fantastic field of 32 winged 410 sprint cars
signed in to battle at Muskingum County Speedway under the combined
banner of the FAST On Dirt and Gladiator Sprint Tours. With six
divisions competing and large fields of cars, the sprint car main
event was completed well before 10 pm. The racing surface and the
entire staff at Muskingum County helped run a great program.
The 32 sprint cars were split into 2 flights for qualifying,
which is customary for FAST when 31 or more cars are present. Pennsylvania's
John Jerich was overall quick time with a 13.308 lap to lead group
A. Brandon Spithaler, the only 2 time FAST champion in the modern
era, was equally impressive with a 13.333 to lead group B.
The four heat races were run with only two brief caution
flags. Ricky Peterson, the defending tour champion, won Ti22 Performance
heat one. Heat two, sponsored by JLT Enterprises was claimed by
another former FAST champion, Nate Dussel. Joel Myers Jr was victorious
in All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads heat 3. Finally, 2019 FAST champion,
Cole Duncan took Signs by Trey, heat 4 in his new ride aboard the
Chris Miller owned 79.
The 12 lap All Star Performance B-Main event was won
by Jordan Ryan over Jonah Aumend and Danny Smith. The Hoosier Racing
Tire redraw put Jerich and Dussel on the front row with Spithaler
and Peterson in row 2. Henry Malcuit and Myers would roll of from
the third row while Duncan and Tyler Esh went green from the fourth
row.
Bradner, Ohio's Nate Dussel raced out to the early
lead with Jerich and Peterson locked in a torid duel for second.
The race's only caution flag flew on lap 5 when Creed Kemenah and
Tyler Esh got together in turn 2. Only Esh was able to continue.
Back under green, Dussel continued to show the way.
With a very competitive field of 22 starters in the main, Dussel
did not encounter lapped traffic until lap 12. With the leader methodically
working lapped traffic, Myers was on the charge from sixth, along
with Tyler Street in the Kingan 7* car who had started tenth.
Racing down the back straight on lap 29, Myers was
able to sneak past Dussel for the lead and only show the way the
last lap and a half. Kingan found the top to his liking late and
roared past Dussel to steal second in the last 100 feet of the race!
The Helms & Sons Construction Hard Charger of
the race was 2020 tour champion, Tyler Gunn, who raced from 14th
starting spot to finish 4th as Brandon Spithaler held on the round
out the top 5. The balance of the top 10 included Ricky Peterson,
John Jerich, Cole Duncan, Greg Wilson and Henry Malcuit.
